African
American front lace wigs are some of the most popular wigs for African
American Women. Why? They are the most natural-looking. In fact, our
favorite celebrities who wear wigs – like Tyra Banks and Beyonce
– prefer African American front lace wigs.
Wait… back up… Tyra Banks and Beyonce wear wigs? Hey,
just about everyone in Hollywood has donned hair that is not her own
at some point or another! It is just that they wear African American
front lace wigs, and that is why you can’t tell. They just look
so natural!
So, why do African American front lace wigs look so natural? Well,
first of all, let it be said that full lace wigs look even more natural
than front lace wigs – full lace wigs can be styled in many
different ways and even worn up in ponytails without looking like
a wig. This is because with both African American front lace wigs
and full lace wigs, the hairs are individually tied to the lace.
When hairs are individually tied to the lace, they can be placed
perfectly. They can fall naturally. And the lace blends right in with
your scalp, so your scalp can show through, making the wigs look even
more natural. In fact, that is one of the reasons that many women
prefer African American front lace wigs – because of the natural
hairlines the create.
In fact, some of the more expensive African American front lace wigs
have baby hairs tied into the front of the wig – these are the
hairs that we sometimes do not want when we are not wearing a wig,
but they are the hairs that, when added, make the wigs look most natural.
There are different ways that a woman can attach an African American
front lace wig to her head. First of all, if she has long hair, it
should be braided. Shorter hair can simply be placed beneath a wig
cap – a wig cap can be a basic knee high with the elastic cut
off (in a color similar to your skin tone).
To fully attach the African American front lace wig to her head,
a woman can apply a wig-specific liquid adhesive just around the perimeter
of her hairline – it should not touch her hair. Some use adhesive
tapes (again, specifically designed for use with wigs). These work
especially well for women who are bald (because of chemotherapy, etc.)
Instead of adhesive, some women may simply clip the wig to their naturally
growing hair.
Of course, you must realize that African American front lace wigs
do cost more. After all, it can take a wigmaker many hours to tie
each hair to the lace and to style it. Also, many African American
front lace wigs are made with 100% human hair which can be more expensive
(of course the most expensive hair is unprocessed, or Remy hair).
